Project Help provides heating assistance for elderly, disabled this winter

Winter months can be a difficult time for our elderly and disabled neighbors. That is why Fayetteville Public Utilities and Good Samaritan Association of Lincoln County are teaming up again this year to offer Project Help. Project Help provides heating assistance for people with fixed incomes who have difficulty paying for winter heating cost. Assistance — used to help with costs for heating with electricity, natural gas, propane, kerosene and wood — is available during the heating season, October through March.

Good Samaritan volunteers administer the program to make sure those in need of help with their winter heating bills receive assistance. If you are in need, you can contact Good Samaritan Association of Lincoln County by phone at 931-433-0260 for more details on how to apply.

If you would like to give back and help your neighbors in need this year, you can donate a dollar or more on your monthly utility bill to help supply heat to those in need, or give a one-time donation. Visit FPU’s office today to sign up, or for more information, call 931-433-1522.
